Description
Confused about how to best serve your older clients? Not after this workshop! Join Erica Bell and her client of 7 years as they show you how to effectively work with and challenge older clients.
Working with older clients can be one of the most rewarding experiences a teacher can have - but it can also be overwhelming if you don’t have a lot of experience with this population. They have special needs to consider (like arthritic joints or joint replacements), and their goals will likely be much different than younger clients (they are going to care more about being able to get up and down from the floor to play with their grandchildren vs. acquiring chiseled abs). Once you understand more about the aging process and how this affects exercise, you’ll be able to see why our approach to working with these clients should be more nuanced and tailored specifically to helping counteract age-related changes such as loss of muscle mass & joint cushioning.
Erica offers straightforward, actionable, and simple tips for addressing age-related changes via the Pilates method in conjunction with the integration of functional movement and specific exercises to address issues such as balance, neuropathy, and joint pain. This workshop is also great for increasing your understanding of how to work with injuries presenting in clients of any age.
