Description
Many of us find the study of anatomy to be intimidating and overwhelming - it is a vast subject! In this online Pilates workshop, Lesley Powell breaks things down into digestible pieces by using several unique approaches to her explanation and demonstration to offer this complete Introduction to Anatomy.
Lesley is a teacher of teachers with years of experience who has trained some of the best in the business. In this workshop, she draws on her studies with anatomy instructor Irene Dowd and combines that experience with her own Pilates practice and painting background to present a great overview of anatomy as it relates to Pilates.
Lesley uses the skeleton, drawings, graphics, her one of a kind watercolors, and real bodies to explain the anatomy from many different perspectives. She then works with numerous models where she demonstrates her eye for picking up detail and subtleties in the different bodies, how to correct and why, and then connects this back to the anatomy and how to use the knowledge of the body to make it real and practical for you to use with your clients right away.
Learn anatomy using all of your senses to give you a different understanding of your body and applications to a sound movement practice.

Herculean effort was made for this presentation. Glad I took the time to slowly go through it all. Many errors ( not all corrected) was a learning challenge. The book "Trail Guide to the Body " was essential in sorting it all out and clarifying the presentation. Funny, the errors actually became a positive to learning. Because one had to question the information given and double check everything. If you are up to the learning challenge; I highly recommend this class.

Thank you for the course! I'm a protege of Marie Jose and it was nice to have an anatomy review and different approaches to connecting clients to their bodies.

I enjoyed the content and Lesley obviously knows the body inside and out! She knows how to cue utilizing anatomy knowledge. Overall, the course is a little disjointed and jumps all over the place. The videos do not reflect the order of the outline in the pdf. It would be helpful to re-organize the content so that for each body part, Lesley would go over the bones, then the muscles, then exercises that apply to that part of the body.

it's a great workshop

Good repetition of basic anatomy, sometimes a little chaotic. Worked well for me, but with little anatomical knowledge I can imagine this won't be the case. Nice to see corrections on real clients
Annett B
Lots to new info and really benefitted from seeing it in action, great cues as well.
Heidi L
Overall, it was very informative. There are some places where the chapters feel very cobbled together and I found it to be distracting.I love some of the corrective exercises though!

Very helpful! Some of the material was over my head because I have very little anatomy background. I needed the material to be broken down a little more. I still have a long way to go but I’m determined. Thank u Leslie. I know you know what you’re talking about!
Shelley
Great use of multiple sources - skeleton, drawings, live models, pilates equipment, yoga props, etc - to help bring it all together for teaching.

Nice use of skeleton versus human body to show movements in different planes...

I loved this course, having drawings and visual aids helped so much. I liked that the course used all the senses and it was so helpful!

Applicable learning vs. books I previously used. Lesley brings to life movement and placement of bones and muscles as it pertains to actual Pilates sessions. Glad I chose Forever Access.
Ann S
Very informative. Drawings were an added bonus for increased understanding.

It was a very good Anatomy workshop. Especially it was nice to see how we use Pilates apparatus to asses clients body imbalance then approach their issues.
Donna H
The class was very informative and easy to follow.

What I loved most about the workshop was the interaction between the skeleton, the diagrams and the live models! It gave me a cohesive understanding of how everything integrates. I will be taking more of these workshops. Lesley Powell is a wonderful teacher!
Christine R
I found the workshop helpful overall. Some handouts for the anatomy might be helpful. I found that I couldn't draw some of the physiological structures very well. I especially liked the tests to perform on clients and structural clues.
Maitena S
Very interesting review on anatomy and the implementation in our daily Pilates workouts. The examples are useful and precise the most important thing is to be encouraged to practice and teach them easily.
Amy
A good overview of the bone structure as it relates to muscle function and movement patterns. I appreciate Lesley's cues and imagery!

A wealth of information!

Oh man, Lesley Powell is the perfect nutty professor. Obviously, she knows her stuff... but I'm super glad she flubs just like the rest of us. Sometimes I get cotten-mouth in front of clients when I get tongue-tied - but this lady gave me inspiration to keep on trucking. After all, I know my stuff.
