This traction must feel wonderful for scoliosis as well. Love seeing new uses of the versatile trap table.
Hi Leslie,
It does feel amazing for those with Scoliosis. Casey has scoliosis and she loves this application. I love the trap table as well and all the endless, creative things we can make happen.

Love your videos and the imagery of the base of the pelvis blooming. When Casey is doing the puppy dog tails and you mention to keep the activation and work happening inside the pelvis, what exactly do you mean? Are you using the Kegel’s in this position, or are you noticing a natural contraction and relaxation of the pelvic floor with the breath and the anterior/posterior pelvic tilting?
Hi Jennifer,
I work with a lot of women in need of pelvic floor education so this is terrific. You mention that there are other exercises to do in this position with the sling. Might you describe a few?
Thanks,
Sandy Baker
Hi Kathy,
Thank you for your question. It is hard in these 5 minute segments to fully detail these very simple but powerful movement sequences. The greatest thing about this position is that the body is in an incline and the diaphragm, intestines and pelvic organs can be decompressed off the pelvic floor. Because of this decompression and the pelvic bones being held in a wide, neutral position , one can feel the activation ( The right way to do and feel a Kegel) of the pelvic muscles/tissues pulling in and up away from the wide bones. This is the contrast that helps to create a sense awareness in the client. The Volume inside the pelvis is turned up because of the contrast and opposition inside the pelvis. The client must also hone their ability to pay attention to what is happening and this will add to the up training of the tissues inside the pelvis and the down training of the over active muscles on the outside of the pelvis. The more we can shed our outer armor , the better able we are to feel what is happening on the inside!

Hi Sandy,
This sequence has gotten a lot of attention. I will try to do a follow up episode with more things you can do in this position. If you can ever make the Live Menopause and Movement training in Asheville or Charlotte you would get loads and loads of info.

Hi,
I thought my studio had one of these slings but it was something else. Is this fuzzy sling from Balanced Body? I looked at their website and catalog and couldn’t find it?
Sandy
Hi Sandy,
Yes! Call Balanced Body Customer service. They will be able to help you. It is a fuzzy piece of material that Velcro’s together. You can wrap it around the bottom sling of the Trapeze or the Foot strap on the reformer etc. You got to get one. Very comfy for the client.
