Description
In this workshop, Rachel Piper breaks down the Classical Pilates Mat exercises, adding props or modifying when necessary, as she works with two different individuals in the studio. She then uses the mat work as a template for strategizing on the Cadillac and the Reformer. The strength to perform the Mat exercises well is often best introduced by teaching the necessary skills with the support of the equipment, and Rachel seamlessly ties it all together as she works through each sequence step by step.
See her adapt and think on the fly as she works with the body in front of her and learn ways to link the mat to everything that is performed on the various Pilates Apparatus.
Objectives
- Think about body shape and how it can inform class preparation
- How to support mat exercises with props when necessary
- How to build the mat work into exercises on the equipment

- What it means to 'load away from center'

- Mat
- Reformer

I really enjoyed this workshop! Many great ideas to help clients progress into their practice and I found some exercise modifications very creative. I also liked that Cindy and James represent well the everyday studio clientele, it was helpful to see how Rachel can work with different body shapes. Thank you!
Katherine D
This was really interesting to hear all about the interconnectivity of the exercises on different equipment. I'm definitely inspired to explore new variations and progressions around the studio!

Overall worthwhile workshop but a lot of lecture got redundant. One person per exercise would be sufficient. I understand the desire to show different bodies but so many of the exercises are similar or refer back to similar principles (which is what this whole workshop is about), so if you really want to use two demonstrators to emphasize how different bodies need different set-ups/cues, that can be accomplished by them doing similar exercises, but not identical ones.

This was an incredible workshop. Rachel was great at demonstrating and I appreciate the two different body types she used. Look forward to taking more workshops from he.
Clare D
Loved the Cadillac and trapeze connections as most people want to stick with reformer only exercises!
