Description

Join Jeremy Brown for an in-depth exploration of the mechanics of breathing, the distinction between tensegrity and biotensegrity, and the emerging concept of 'fascintegrity' and its relevance to Pilates practice.

Discover the nuances of tone versus tension, learn to harness the breath for creating functional length, and explore the vital connections between the pelvis, feet, and shoulder girdle. Gain insights into how these elements work together to support the thoracic spine and enhance overall movement quality.

This workshop combines traditional Pilates exercises on the Reformer and Cadillac with innovative techniques using small props. By the end, you'll view the body through a fresh lens and apply the principles of length to build dynamic strength and support in your clients.

Objectives

  • Use the breath to create dynamic length
  • Understand how biotensegrity/fascintegrity play a role in our thinking in the Pilates studio.
  • Distinguish how clients will often compress and shear, as opposed to lengthen, to find stability.

Concepts & Techniques

  • How to define tensegrity, biotensegrity, and fascintegrity
