Don’t need to be a runner. I’m a walker and like to do lunges during my walks with the dog.
So true Jean! an excellent move for walkers. Anyone can benefit from taking their Pilates postures outside of the studio.
How about those who run on the beach (soft sand) barefoot? also sometimes clients run on their toes when in the sand. Any thoughts on that?
Christian – Running and lunging in soft sand is excellent for our bodies! starting out with the lunges on sand (or any uneven surface) can get a client warmed up beautifully. The shifting below their feet will make all of their stabilizers turn on. Anyone who runs barefoot will naturally land on their forefoot – barefoot running shortens our stride and we put much less pressure on our heels. Its great to try, but of course, should be approached quite slowly if you’re not used to it. It is a very different movement than running with shoes.
Thank you anneMettee 🙂
