Hi there! I recently read an article in the Washington Post regarding nassl breathing as possibly increasing athletic ability. Here’s the link :https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/wellness/when-it-comes-to-breathing-during-exercise-youre-probably-doing-it-wrong/2019/01/23/b4d3c338-1e59-11e9-8b59-0a28f2191131_story.html My understanding about breath , the right way to breath in Pilates , has shifted so many times ; my latest use of breath is I just go with what feels right. My studies of Gyrotonic also have shaped my creative use of breath to be exercise appropriate. But , in through the nose and out through the mouth was my intial Pilates training. What do people think? Are your clients experiencing better results from nasal breathing on inhales and exhales? What is the current understanding of breath in Pilates today based on science? I would love to know what people think, In appreciation, Amy |
